• In a standard water heater, for every 80 gallons of hot water used at your fixtures, 80 new gallons of cold water enter the water heater, bringing with it 80 new gallons of minerals, sediment, debris, etc…  Because of our unique primary/secondary heat exchange system, we don’t continuously bring in new water to the storage tank. The EXR delivers a whopping FHR (First Hour Rating) of 80 gallons! Weighing in at just 100 pounds and requiring virtually no infrastructure reconfiguration, it is a plumber’s dream to install with the Essency Pro App making every installation a snap. Essency has numerous advantages over tankless water heaters. Because the EXR is electric—while tankless are mainly gas—it’s much easier to install. No. Unlike heat pump and hybrid water heaters, the EXR does not use a heat pump. Instead, it uses 2 heating elements to heat static “service” water in an internal tank, which acts as an energy source – similar to a battery. This energy is then transferred to your fresh domestic water using a stainless steel, flat plate heat exchanger. Not to be confused with a tankless water heater, we call it an “On-Demand Tank Water Heater” – the world’s first! “On Demand” because it is flow-activated like a tankless unit.

Nope. Never. Because the Essency tank is made of advanced polymers, there’s no risk of corrosion, so it doesn’t need an anode rod. (Unlike old-fashioned steel tanks). This also makes the EXR ideal for homes on well water or other municipal water supplies that suffer from rotten egg smells due to bacteria combined with certain magnesium anode rods.
