    We’re constantly seeking to improve our products for you. So occasional software updates may be provided to address cybersecurity issues, fix bugs, improve features or add new functions. Once your Essency water heater is connected to the internet, any upgrades will be downloaded and installed automatically. You’ll be notified, via our app, once a new version has been installed.

Understanding the Essency EXR’s Controls

Essency Set-up and Tools

  • Smart Heating Mode:

    This is the default mode of the EXR. Smart Heating Mode keeps the environment in mind as it optimizes operations to consume the least possible energy while supplying you with plenty of hot water. Smart Mode is the recommended mode for families of 4-5 people with average water usage and allows for an impressive FHR of up to 80 gallons.

  • Heat+ Mode

    The Heat+ Mode unleashes the full performance of your water heater, allowing it to produce a maximum amount of hot water. This makes it perfect when you’re experiencing a large amount of water usage. In Heat+ mode the EXR delivers, in the same conditions as the FHR test, a massive 100 gallons of hot water.

  • Boost

    Boost

    This function is useful when you temporarily need an increase in hot water available for use.

  • Vacation

    Vacation

    The Vacation function keeps the tank at a lower temperature while you’re away to save energy costs, while still keeping the tank from freezing.

  • Water Saver

    Water Saver

    This helpful function is intended to limit the time spent in the shower by overly indulgent users. So if your teen is taking too long, just activate Water Saver to gradually lower the temperature over one minute.
