While Robert Blanchard was leading his company General Transmissions, he was surprised to learn that traditional water heaters lasted less than ten years and relied on outdated technology and materials. Blanchard began to harness his years of experience working with machinery toward building a more durable tank. Essency was founded in 2010, as Blanchard began imagining ways to integrate these innovative solutions into the water heating industry. Later, Nathalie Barendrecht brought the final product to market with the technical experience of her team of innovative engineers.
