The EXR works differently than other water heaters because you’re not consuming the 55 gallons of water stored in the tank. Instead, this “static water” acts as heat storage. When you draw hot water, the domestic water is run through the heat exchanger, where the heat from the water in the storage tank is instantly transferred to the domestic water, giving you hot water from the tap.

The tank is only filled once—during the unit’s initial installation—and the water remains in there throughout the life of the water heater. And because it’s built of polymer composite, scale cannot form inside the tank. This increases the life of the tank by decades as well as extending the life of other key components like the heating elements.

Whatever your needs, the versatile Essency EXR is ready to be your hot water solution. For high-capacity requirements, replace an 80-gallon tank or two 40-gallon tanks with an EXR. Within its standard 55-gallon footprint, the Essency EXR delivers a whopping FHR of 80 gallons! Weighing in at just 100 pounds and requiring virtually no infrastructure reconfiguration, it is a plumber's dream to install with the Essency Pro App making every installation a snap. Homeowner’s love the MyEssency App which allows them remote control of their water heater's advanced functions like Booster Power, Vacation Mode and Power Saver.

Essency has numerous advantages over tankless water heaters. Because the EXR is electric—while tankless are mainly gas—it’s much easier to install. In terms of performance, Essency delivers hot water at flow rates comparable to best-in-class 199,000 BTU gas tankless models. That means it delivers enough hot water for 9 back-to-back showers.

Nope. Never. Because the Essency tank is made of an advanced polymer, there’s no risk of corrosion, so it doesn’t need an anode. (Unlike old-fashioned steel tanks).

No, unlike hybrid water heaters the Essency EXR doesn’t use a heat pump to heat the water. Instead it uses 2 heating elements to heat static “service” water in an internal tank, which acts as an energy source - similar to a battery.  This heat energy is then transferred on demand to your fresh domestic water using a flat plate heat exchanger. Therefore the EXR is an “on-demand tank water heater”, the first of its kind!
